Children are welcome although there are few younger ones.
Yes last time we were there we had three boys with us 6, 9, 12. All three of them loved the food.
My dining companion and I had the bannock to start, which was dense and delicious. The maple butter was an excellent touch. We had the bison meatloaf and the bison burger, both of which were well seasoned and tasty. Also, we thought they were a large portion for a reasonable price. Our waitress was really friendly and even ran out to the parking lot to bring us our left over bannock that we forgot. We will be back 😊.
Nice amount of variety on the menu, staff is friendly and efficient, venue is nicely decorated. The food was very good but didn't get 5 stars from me because it just seemed to lack a little something. Not sure what, as the meatloaf I has was very good. Other people in my party had the lasagna and it was a bit dry. The poutine starter was really good, as well as the bannock. Total for 6 people (3 appetizers shared, 6 mains, 2 desserts, 1 drink) was about $270 including tip - slightly pricey in my frugal mind, but not too bad.
Nice place tucked away in a quiet area. Hotel linked restaurant but pretty decent. Smaller menu with lots of wild game (bison especially) on the menu. Decent food and reasonably priced with large portions. Extremely good service and very attentive. Nice wine list with lots of choices and again very reasonably priced. Recommend if in the area or want something a bit different.
My father and I had dinner at Homefire Grill and it was hands down one of the best experiences we've ever had. The restaurant itself is very warm and welcoming but what made this experience so memorable was the great food and the amazing service. Deacon was our server and he went above and beyond. His prompt and caring service made us wanting to come back. This will now be a permanent stop for us when we come to Edmonton. Thank you so much Deacon, and compliments to the chef!
Very good food and service. We started with the New Orleans Skillet which was very good. I had the bison meatloaf and she had the pork chop. Both very tasty!
There were 7 of us and I am glad we had a reservation as Friday seemed quite busy. The menu offered a large variety of choices. They had no problems with substitutions. Our server,Deacon provided us with excellent service. He was very attentive to our needs and requests. The food was excellent and all enjoyed their choices. We will be back!
Party of 4, we all ordered different items and appetizers and everyone was happy with meals. Atmosphere was good and waiter was excellent.
Food was tasty. Staff was super friendly. We went for lunch, were seated promptly and our food was served within a reasonable amount of time. Tried a few things but recommend the artichoke dip, was super tasty and hot.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.Love the variety of food and each item on the menu is so delicious!!I will be returning, as my family enjoyed the food, the great service and wait time was not long.
Amazing food, great atmosphere! Very beautiful place to eat!!! Waitress was also the best! Will definitely be back
Excellent food, friendly timely service. I add the Buffalo meatloaf... Yum!!!? Hubby had the lamb stew... Also excellent. Highly recommend you try this restaurant.
My favorite restaurant in Edmonton so far. Their ambiance is wonderful. Staff has been good every time we've gone. Prices are good for the quality that you get. Kitchen is open and staff seem to genuinely like their job which is hugely important to me.Do yourself a favor and get a seat with a good line of sight of the kitchen if you're into that sort of thing.
Reasonably priced, well prepared, and beautifully presented. The menu is a unique twist on the usual offerings. The service was great, and we would definitely eat here again.
Food and service was exceptional
First time eating there and the food was amazing!!
We enjoyed a fabulous meal. The staff were attentive and the food was cooked just right. I can really recommend the lamb stew. It was perfection. It was lovely to eat without the distraction of loud TV screens. We will definitively go back.
Place was alright! Went here for a party and we had the private room. Plenty of parking. We had about 27 people so it was great to have a private room. I had the bison meatloaf and it was good. The bison meatloaf was tasty but was a little dry. The vegetables could’ve been boiled/blanched a little longer and the mashed potatoes was ok. I found our server/host to be overwhelmed by the big party and was getting frustrated with the party for moving around. Did she really expect a party to just stay seated? That’s why we requested a private room to mingle and roam. Also, her little side comments I didn’t care for. I’m sure with a regular visit service is better and possibly the food might be better but with a large party i wouldn’t recommend.
Great food, great bannok, great bartender!!! BUT! Manager at the end of the night barked at the bartender to collect our bill, unprofessional in my words. We HEARD EVERY WORD MANAGER!!! SHADY
Good atmosphere, with a fireplace in the middle. Steak with crab meat tasked really good. Service was fast and friendly.
I love this place. I've been here twice for a Valentine's Day dinner with my wife and both times it was great. The food, the atmosphere, the service, the live music, all were very well done. We will be coming back soon.
A decent spot to grab a reasonably priced dinner. Nice to see a different take on some more classic dishes, and so would consider going back again to try some more.I had the lamb stew on a recommendation from our server, and wasn't disappointed. I did find that it was just a bit too salty to really taste any nuance in the flavours. But, the sides and pastry were nice.
The place is very cozy! Service is beyond reproach. Wine selection is above average and the overall menu is well balanced. I had the Irish Stew with garlic bread side and bacon scallops with a nice red wine! Overall the presentation was very good and the time to get my food also pretty fast being we are 630pm and the place is about 30% full of customers! Now as far as the stew goes the gravy was good and also the contents as a whole just found it could use larger pieces of vegetables like carrots as my pieces are pretty small in the stew itself! The veggies on the side cooked perfectly. Mash was good but a little too hard could of used a little extra mashing. Now the bacon scallops I found where slightly undercooked inside whiles the bacon was crispy on the outside! See added pictures for your viewing. I will be back to sample other parts of the menu so not a bad restaurent just a couple of pointers!
We found the staff very attentive and the food had some wonder flavours. Cooked perfectly, veggies were tender, my steak was perfect to my order. I appreciate to be in a space that I did not have to raise my voice to be heard. I will be back.
I have driven past this location for years and finally stopped in for supper. What a surprise. Great atmosphere! Awesome service! And great food!! Definitely will be back and telling friends.
Fantastic food! The Irish stew is phenomenal. We also had a Bison burger and an Elk burger that were great. The soup of the day was elk meatloaf soup also fantastic. Service was awesome. I wish we were locals because this would become a favorite restaurant!!
Always fantastic food! Been here many times as is a favorite of my grandfathers. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Great food. Great atmosphere. I would recommend to everyone.
Nice interior design -- a restaurant side with no TVs and bar side with TVs. One can order from the same menu from both. My dinning companion had haddock and rice he said was pretty good. I had the bison burger which was ok (did not like the mixed in Saskatoon berries) and the mashed potatoes were too stiff. Good service.
Fabulous atmosphere! Great selection of foods, even a kids menu...good sized portions, and delicious desserts!
Always a great experience, and he truly uses the best ingredients in town for a consistent 5 star taste. This is mine and my friends favorite spot in town to get pizza. It is absolutely delicious. We always get great service! One time we ordered two larges, and as he was handing us the pizza it fell (still in the box, but looked messy), and he offered to make us a new
Great cozy restaurant with the best ambiance. We we're seated within a moment of entering, behind ushered over to a seat by the toasty fireplace. The waitress was very kind and brought us water while we looked over the drink menu. He had the Yellow head lager and I opted for the Blue Hawaiian, followed by a Long Beach Ice Tea, very tasty indeed. Our waitress gave us time to view the menu and only returned to our table when she seen we had made our selections. The food was delicious, and we'll presented. I had the Icelandic Haddock and my boyfriend chose the Pork Chop and we split what had to be the most amazing Bannocks. We we're both very satisfied with our meals and left feeling relaxed and we'll fed. Will definitely return if we are in town again.
Absolutely amazing!! We ordered from Skip the Dishes and the food was spectacular. They went above and beyond by leaving a thank you note as well as free samples of cake. Super impressed!
True Canadian fusion at last! The bison burger with saskatoon relish was the best burger I've had in ages, and I'm a woman who is truly dedicated to her burgers. ;) Lovely decor, fabulous staff, and every element of every dish we ordered was perfection. My only regret was that we didn't try the bannock!
We come here often after a day of travel. I was considering the reasons I enjoy this restaurant so much. It's consistency. Always clean. Always cosy. Always exceptional service. The menu is varied and unique. The food has been delicious at every visit. No surprises. It feels like home with really good food and someone pleasant and entertaining to bring it to you and clean up your mess. We've had company with us with dietary restrictions and were accommodated happily. Even with regular menu items our dislikes are considered easily. Children are welcome. Fireplace is cozy. Please try this restaurant if you're looking for a change of pace.
This place is amazing. It was our first time here, the food was delicious and service was good even at a time where social distancing is recommended. We started with bannock with a maple butter (different and the butter was not sweet and just perfect). Main courses were the daily special, salmon lightly breaded and baked with shrimp, rice and veggies. 2nd dish was the bison meatloaf with potatoes and veggies and third dish was half a chicken with potatoes and veggies. We all enjoyed our food and would come back again.
Excellent food with a warm fare. The staff is well informed and extremely friendly. The atmosphere is very cool with a wonderful feel. A gem!
Very nice atmosphere but steak was chewy and poor quality and staff comes across rude
First time here and I was really impressed. Excellent service and a nice cozy atmosphere with the fireplace in the middle. The food was fantastic! Try the Bannock bread with maple butter. So good!
Had my first ever meatloaf and what a disappointment. My friends tasted and agreed it wasn’t great. Good ambience and seating.
Came here from out of town and was impressed. Good food and great service. Would love to come back if i'd have the opportunity to do so.
Wonderful experience! This place was very very clean & basically looks brand new on the inside still. The staff were patient & great with our young children. The food was timely & terrific. If you are hungry then try the Pork Chop, it was incredible! I would highly recommend you check this place out with your family.
Wonderfully place for a date night. The food is great and the service is awesome. They probably have the best chicken wings in Edmonton. Yes! I said the best chicken wings in Edmonton.I was there with my girlfriend and we got out food paid for by a God sent couple because we remind them of when they started dating. GOD bless that couple and bring peace in their lives. 5 minute after that another man gave us a vase of flowers because he also likes our couple. If you are looking for a fun restaurant this is the place for you no doubt. Maybe you will also get your food paid for haha.
Four people ordered four different things and we all enjoyed our meals. Loved the atmosphere for a casual dinner with friends
Was awesome, had a great evening. Was my wife's birthday, we booked a private room and our friends & family had a wonderful evening. We could take as many photos as we wanted and did not disturb any of the other patrons of the restaurant. The food was excellent and our waiter was superb. By having the private room our waiter was the only other person in the room that was not part of the birthday group. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would without any hesitation strongly recommend The Home fire Grill.
We are staying at a hotel close by and called to order takeout. We went over to pick it up and wished we could have stayed to eat ~ such a cozy friendly atmosphere with very friendly staff. Even in takeout containers, our food was beautifully presented and exceptionally delicious! My husband had a salmon dish and it was perfectly cooked! The bison spring rolls ~ unique and delicious! Everything was perfect! Thank you for offering such great food and great service.
A bit pricey but food and service was great. Went for lunch, place was busy but we got our meals quickly. Love the menu, a professional take on rural meals and wild/local ingredients.
Very nice ambiance, low lighting, beautiful fire in the centre. The food was average, a bit salty. We got the carnivore pizza and the Irish stew. The waiter recommended the Irish Stew as well as the Elk Lasagna so maybe the lasagna would have been better than what we got. The bannock bread pudding was tasty but very filling/dense! We also got the sweet potato cheesecake which was average- it would have tasted better with more spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.). The server was pleasant and service was quick.
Loved our supper here! The atmosphere was so cozy, and the live music really added to the experience. The bannock was REALLY delicious, and we both enjoyed our mains.
Great service, amazing food, great staff and fabulous decor. The perfect place to eat! I cant wait to bring my husband back.
Hubby and I had supper here last night and feel as though we've discovered a hidden jewel! The food was unique, (try the bannock and Rose for sure!) and the service impeccable. (Thanks, Deacon!) We'll be back!
